Summer Freebies in Snowmass!

Here's a list I came up with of of free things to do in Snowmass Village in the summer!
  • ON-MOUNTAIN NATURE WALKS - Okay, you have to pay for a Gondola ticket to get up the mountain, but once up there you can go on an Aspen Center for Environment Studies (ACES) naturalist-guided walk at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola or at the top of the Elk Camp chairlift, Mon-Thurs., June 19-September 2, at 1:00pm.
  • ACES NATURE TRAIL WALK - An easy two-hour guided walk along the gentle, kid-friendly Snowmass Nature Trail. A naturalist from the Aspen Center forEnvironmental Studies (ACES) shares tips on wildflowers, animal tracks and birds. Daily at 10:00am, meet in the Ticket Pavilion at the end of the Snowmass Village Mall.
  • SNOWMASS DISC GOLF - The first and only place in Colorado with two 18-hole mountain courses! Again, you need an Elk Camp Gondola ticket if you want to play from the top of the courses down (they start at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola and descend to the Base Village plaza), and you will need your own discs (most of the sporting goods stores on the Mall have them), but play is free and open to all. Open June 19-September 2.
  • HIKING & BIKING - Snowmass' extensive trail system boasts over 40 miles of trails ranging from scenic paths and gentle roads to gnarly single track. Check out the new paved path connecting Snowmass to the Rio Grande Trail and Aspen. On-mountain, an unbeatable network of trails that includes a beginner terrain park, a nationally renowned mountain-cross course, the spectacular Government Trail, B.C. style freeride trails with elevated bridges and teeter totters and gentle, scenic paths forthe whole family.
  • KIDS' KRAFTS - The mountains are sure to inspire unique creations at this free crafts hour for children. Parents can join in the fun or drop off their children to fashion unique vacation mementos such as hats, backpacks, treasure boxes and birdfeeders. Every Thursday, July 1-August 26, 4:00pm - 5:00pm in the Snowmass Ticket Pavilion on the mall.
  • ANDERSON RANCH ARTS CENTER - This historic ranch-turned visual arts community offers self-guided tours and bi-weekly lectures by renowned faculty and visiting artists. Tours: Tuesdays at 4:00pm; slide lectures: bi-weekly evenings (check their calendar). 5263 Owl Creek Road, next to the Snowmass Chapel and Fire Station.
  • FAMILY SING-A-LONG & STORYTELLING - Join master storytellers and croonin' cowboys as they bring the West to life in this cozy early evening activity for families. Enjoy well-known camp songs and interactive tall tales. Light refreshments served. Every Wednesday, June 30-August 25, 5:00pm - 6:00pm, at the Snowmass Village Mall near Snowmass Ticket Pavilion.
  • SNOWMASS VILLAGE PARKS & RECREATION - Check out the baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts, sand volleyball and basketball courts, and don't miss the awesome skatepark!
  • SNOWMASS THURSDAY NIGHT SUMMER OF FREE MUSIC SERIES - This free Thursday night concert series draws crowds by the thousands. With a new state-of-the-art sound system, the venue offers some of the country's most distinguished rock, R&B, soul and latin performers. Bring along a blanket or low lawn chair and a picnic for the ultimate al fresco experience. Beer and wine are available for purchase. Dogs are welcome in a separate pet friendly area outside the venue. Every Thursday, July 1–August 19, 6:15pm, on Fanny Hill.
Well, that should be enough to keep you busy for a while!
